Opening the Book of Creation: Rediscovering Contemplative Christian Nature Spirituality
From Friday, March 30, 2012 -  07:30pm
To Sunday, April 01, 2012 - 01:00pm

“My book is the nature of created things, and as often as I have a mind to
read the words of God, it is at my hands.”
~ St. Anthony of Egypt

The ancient Church, and many of Christianity’s greatest mystics understood
nature as a powerful way to encounter God, to be read and revered as a
‘first book of revelation’. Drawing upon the nature spirituality of the
Desert Mothers and Fathers and St. John of the Cross, this retreat is an

experiential immersion into the Christian practice of deep listening to encounter

God’s presence in nature.

The weekend will include: training practices to develop sensory awareness
and enhance our capacity for listening to the Divine Presence in nature,
daily shared silent prayer, guided and supported time to individually
practice developing a spiritual relationship with specific aspects of the
natural world, and exploration of the rich heritage of Christian nature
spirituality, and how it can inform and support our relationship with
Creation today. Palm Sunday services available at local church, if
desired.
