About the head instructor
Mark Kutolowski
Mark Kutolowski is a Vermont guide and traditional wilderness skills instructor. In addition to running New Creation Wilderness Programs, Mark teaches wilderness living skills at Dartmouth College. Mark is a Wilderness First Responder, and has over a decade of experience leading trips, teaching classes and workshops, and living simply with the land in New England. Mark formerly instructed at Hawk Circle Wilderness Education (Cherry Valley, NY), and has studied with many of the top experts in the field including Ricardo Sierra, Barry Keegan, Mors Kochanski, Tim Smith and Sam Thayer.
A lifelong Christian, Mark discovered the Christian monastic and contemplative traditions in 1997, and in 2001-2002 he spent a year living in silence and solitude at a hermitage founded on the spirituality of the Desert Fathers and Mothers. Mark is an Oblate of Saint Benedict, a lay person who follows the Rule of Benedict and a monastic spirituality while living and working in the outside world. Mark began formally teaching Christian Meditation in 2003.
